LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville households can now apply for energy assistance this winter.
Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services anticipates offering appointments starting Jan. 11, 2024 for the annual crisis component of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The program assists income-eligible households in Jefferson County with heating costs on a first-come, first-served basis from Jan. 9 to March 29 or until funds are depleted.
According to a news release, households must meet eligibility requirements, including income eligibility of up to and including 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.Â
Crisis benefits will cover the minimum needed to alleviate the crisis, not to exceed the local cost for a deliverable supply of the household’s primary heating fuel or $400 for gas or electric.
Appointments are required in advance to apply. There is a toll-free automated appointment system available 24 hours a day to schedule an in-person appointment at one of seven locations.
Louisville residents can call 502-991-8391 or click here.
