LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A national forest in Winchester, Kentucky, will be offering free days this year.
The Daniel Boone National Forest will waive recreation fees for numerous days throughout the year, including:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Jan. 15
- President's Day weekend - Feb. 17-19
- National Fishing and Boating week - June 1-2
- National Get Outdoors Day - June 8
- Juneteenth - June 19
- National Public Lands Day - Sept. 28
- Veteran's Day - Nov. 11
Daniel Boone National Forest encompasses 21 counties around eastern Kentucky. There are more than 708,000 acres of national forest system lands within a 2.1 million-acre proclamation boundary. There are more than 600 miles of trails and over 250 recreation sites.
