LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A famous Kentucky horse and his owner were honored Thursday in Louisville for their charity work.

Hank the Horse greeted fans at the Paralegal Association's annual conference at the downtown Marriott. The association named Hank and his nonprofit, For Hank's Sake, the 2024 Charity of the Year.

Hank's "mom" and owner, Tammi Jo Regan, said he has met more than 50,000 people and raised more than $125,000 for those in need over the years.

"The heart-shaped spot on his forehead shone through just like his spirit," Regan said. "I've always believed in Hank's spirit, and I helped Hank rise up. He's helped me rise up, and now, we help others rise up to their fullest potential."

Hank visits children to encourage them to read, helps the Salvation Army with its Red Kettle efforts, and checks on veterans.
