LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kosair for Kids is asking for the community's help after books and toys set aside for the holidays were destroyed by flooding.
Kosair said Tuesday that a pipe on its air conditioner malfunctioned and flooded part of the basement, including the toy room, last week.Â
Donations of books and toys that were in the room were destroyed. Leaders said Kosair Kids were set to receive the gifts in December at its holiday party.
"Hundreds of families attend the annual tradition, with the gifts being the only ones some of the children receive each year," Kosair said in a news release.
There is an annual toy drive scheduled for July, but donations can be dropped off at Kosair's headquarters on Eastern Parkway or ordered through their Amazon wish list. Monetary donations can also be made online.
Kosair also said anyone wishing to organize a toy drive can find more information on its website.
