LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Park Duvalle Community Health Center received a huge gift to expand its operations.

Philanthropist Mackenzie Scott donated $4.8 million to the center.

Some of the money will go toward the center's dental department and expand behavioral health services. Money will also go toward a Farmers Market project to help with food scarcity in the city's west end.

"This monetary aid will help assist in all facets of Park DuValle’s operations as we exceed expectations in the communities and schools we serve," Park Duvalle CEO Dr. Swannie Jett said. "I hope that more philanthropist, both near and far, follow Chicago Community Foundation’s lead in identifying health centers like Park DuValle who impact the the most underserved communities in our region who have been disenfranchised the most."

Park Duvalle has seven health centers in five communities in Kentuckiana and two Jefferson County Public Schools buildings.
