LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 54-year-old Indiana man was killed, and another man was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning near North Vernon.
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. on U.S. 50 near Private Road 125 East, just east of North Vernon, Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said in a news release.
According to investigators, William Rabe, 54, was headed west on U.S. 50 when he crossed the centerline for "an unknown reason," crashing into another vehicle in the eastbound lane.
Wheeles said the eastbound vehicle left the south side of the road before coming to a stop. The man driving the vehicle was taken to St. Vincent/Jennings Hospital with serious injuries and was later transferred to St. Vincent-86th Street in Indianapolis for treatment. His current condition was not provided.
Rabe was pronounced dead at the scene.
ISP is helping the Jennings County Sheriff's Office in its investigation into the crash, which remains ongoing.
Toxicology results are pending, however Wheeles said investigators don't believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
