LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 74-year-old person died in Nelson County after their vehicle was fully submerged in floodwaters early Saturday morning.
The Nelson County Sheriff's Office said it received a report of a possible water rescue just after 3:30 a.m.
Authorities found a person trapped in their vehicle in the 2800 block of Nelsonville Road and the vehicle was fully submerged.
The person died inside and hasn't been identified at this time.
Authorities are continuing to warn people not to drive through flooded roadways.
Throughout Saturday, people in Nelson County were helping others from their cars and their homes by boat. Many main roads were impassable.
"This time we're going to do it again," said Daniel Aguilar, who was helping rescue families from flooding." We got a lot of help from family, friends, coworkers, who we are thankful but this time we need help from FEMA or even from the Governor or something like that.Â
