SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Body camera video shows the moments leading up to and after police say a woman ran over an officer with her car.
Shepherdsville Police released the body camera video Monday. Police officials say it shows Taira Litsey, 31, running over and dragging an officer with her car.
The video begins with a Shepherdsville Police officer approaching a woman at a gas station. Police say that woman is Litsey.
“The reason I came to talk to you is, I ran your plates, and it shows your suspended,” the officer said. “Did you know you were suspended?”
“No,” the woman responded.
“Do you have ID or anything?” the officer asked.
Video shows the officer then walking around to the other side of the vehicle to talk to a man in the passenger’s seat. Police say that man is 28-year-old Logan Lamb. He also says his name is Logan Lamb in the video.
“Do you have a license or no?” the officer asked.
“I think mine is also suspended,” the man responded.
The next several minutes of the video shows all three people trying to find insurance information in the vehicle. Eventually, the officer returns to his patrol car to run the two people’s information. During this time, two other officers arrive.
When the initial responding officer gets out of his car, he tells the other officers the woman has several warrants out.
The officers then tell the woman to get out of the car. At first she declines and says she “needs to roll up the window.”
At this point, the video shows a struggle with the car pulling off, and the responding officer hanging out of the driver’s side door.
That officer runs back to his car and says on his radio that he’s been run over.
Several days later, Litsey and Lamb were arrested by Kentucky State Police in Louisville.
Litsey was wanted on four previous warrants. Back in March, LMPD says she used a car to try to run over her ex-boyfriend and another man. Her criminal history includes previous charges for burglary, escape and various drug offenses.
Both are facing charges of assault and resisting arrest.
The officer in the video was taken to the hospital, but has since made a full recovery.
