LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 118-year-old floral business in southern Indiana is under new ownership.
Aebersold Florist opened along a dirt road in 1908. Throughout the years, family-owned business on Silver Street in New Albany has been passed down through four generations.
In December, the family sold the business to Brian and Caitlin Yost in the hopes of being able to spend more time with children and grandchildren, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The Yosts said they hope to honor the Aebersold Florist legacy while also expanding it. One idea they have is to use the space outside of the store to create more of a community feel within the neighborhood.Â
"Everything's on the table, but we have an intent to stay really involved in the community," Brian Yost told LBF. "We have this legacy name that we've been privileged to acquire and people know who we are — especially in southern Indiana."Â
The Yosts said they've also thought about the chance to continue the tradition of passing the business down from generation to generation.
