LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Courier Journal's headquarters will soon have a new owner.
WDRB's partners at Business First reported that the eight-story building on West Broadway will go up for auction in March. The online auction for the property at 525 West Broadway will go from March 10-12.Â
The owners of the 451,000-square-foot building put the 3.5-acre property on the market for $7 million last year, but didn't sell the site. When the property was listed last year, real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Kentucky noted that a nearby 136,000-square-foot warehouse was available for separate purchase.
But the new auction lists both properties, spanning an eight-acre campus.Â
Cushman & Wakefield are brokers for the auction. A minimum bid isn't listed.
The Courier Journal sold both properties to 525 W Broadway KY LLC for $11.3 million in 2022. The building was built in 1947.
The Courier Journal still operates inside the building.Â
“The building will remain the Courier Journal's headquarters after the auction," Courier Journal Executive Editor Mary Irby-Jones said in a report. "The newspaper will remain downtown as we continue our important work covering Louisville, the surrounding cities and the state."
