LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- While everyone is always searching for the best deals on those hot-ticket items, a deal on an electronic might be one you need to avoid.

December deals are all about saving money, and off-brands save even more.

Apple AirPods are priced at $145, but the lookalikes are as low as $30. iPads are $300, with cheap Android tablets as low as $39.

The cheap way to go will give you more of a headache than paying full price will.

The knockoff tablets don't hold a charge, while some have even been flagged as a fire risk. Fake AirPods don't play music correctly and will randomly disconnect.

Apple warns that many chargers sold online are counterfeit, some even having the Apple logo on them.

To know you're always getting the real thing, purchase your electronics from an authorized Apple dealer or get third party chargers with the Apple approved MFI logo. Also, check the brand reviews to be extra safe!
