LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health Floyd has eight new operating rooms in southern Indiana.
The hospital in New Albany held a ribbon cutting for the operating rooms on Monday. The expansion has been in the planning stages for several years as part of a $65 million renovation.

The rooms are also large enough to house the hospital's robotics program.
"We have the latest technology in here. All the way from the robots to the anesthetic machines, to the monitoring equipment, endoscopy equipment where we can view things and so we kind of went all out to make sure we have everything we needed and the latest technology to do it," Baptist Health Floyd President Mike Schroyer said.
According to a news release, Baptist Health Floyd surgeons performed 1,107 daVinci robot cases for general surgeries, 129 Globus spine cases and 177 robotic total joints during the 2024 fiscal year.
