LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shopping this month for school supplies or fall fashion? You might be tempted to grab a deal if you see an ad online anywhere.

Prices on fashion imported from China and other countries is already going up due to tariffs, but you may want to think twice before clicking "buy."

Fake retail sites are becoming an epidemic because they advertise on social media and often pop up first in web searches.

While you're shopping, check for red flags, such as no physical location or phone number. Another red flag is all the customer reviews being brand new.

The biggest red flag is complaints at sites like the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, or Trust Pilot.

If the prices are too low, and you've never heard of the retailer, skip it.
