LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new warning about unexpected charges on your credit card has been released, and they aren't fraudulent or scam charges.

Instead, it's something you once approved.

If you aren't familiar with "gray charges," you should be.

How often do you go over your credit card statement line by line? We're all guilty of it.

"Gray charges" sneaking onto your credit card are not charges from a scammer, or a double charge from a restaurant.

Rather, they are things you signed up for, maybe years ago, that continue to auto renew.

Examples include:

  • Music services you no longer use
  • Antivirus programs from an old computer
  • Free trials that turned into paid subscriptions

Worse, some of these fees that used to be $5 a month may not be $20 a month, or even more.

The monthly charge may have a different name too, making it tough to spot.

Cancel those charges if you know what they are for, or dispute them through your credit card if you don't know the source.
