LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The site of a former abortion clinic in downtown Louisville will soon be cleared to make away for a planned 27-story hotel project.
According to our partners at Business First, a New York City-based commercial real estate development firm is planning to demolish the building at 140, 136 and 136 W. Market streets.
This will clear the way for a temporary 66-space surface parking lot before construction begins on a 27-story upscale hotel.
The site is the former location of the EMW Women's Surgical Center that closed in 2022. The demolition is expected to cost $50,000, and Zyyo bought the properties in November for more than $4 million.
The project calls for an upscale 300-room hotel with a 6,000-square-foot rooftop bar and a pool. A 7,500-square-foot restaurant is planned for the first floor, and more than 12,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space is planned on the second floor.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for 2026, with the project set to open in 2028.
It's unknown at this time when demolition for the temporary parking lot will begin.
