LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Nelson County farm surrounded by cornfields is now finding its products on the shelves of Louisville's newest grocery store.
The 60,000 square foot facility is located in Bardstown, Kentucky. Bloomfield Farms is a small business that’s now having a greater reach.

What starts out at the factory will eventually end up on the shelves of the new Publix Store in Middletown.
"We work with other customers, other processors, other bakeries doing customized blends for their end product," Anna Elder, Bloomfield Farms marketing and sales, said.
But now Bloomfield Farms can add Publix to their resume which will be selling their gluten-free bakery mixes in a section featuring items that are Kentucky Local.
"B&B Processors said ‘We’ve seen your product in Kentucky, and we think it looks really good. We need some healthy gluten-free offerings so let’s work together,'" Elder said. "That is kind of how we got connected."
When it comes to small business, a national chain with hometown representation is some of the best exposure to ask for. Until now, much of Bloomfield Farm’s business was online and with a few grocery stores here and there.
"It’s really nice when customers say, ‘Hey, I saw your product here or there,' they say that on Facebook or other social media, it makes us feel good," Elder said.
The Bardstown facility employees about 55 people. The company started over 10 years ago and is branching out even more thanks to the opportunity to sell at Publix.
"That is always the goal in working with local distributors," Elder said. "It really helps to get you in the door of other locations."

Bloomfield Farms representatives don't know how long their partnership with Publix will last because it's not necessarily a contract but rather performance-based.
They're confident customers will continue to support their small business, one that's only getting bigger.
"We couldn’t be more excited as a company," Elder said. "We’re very glad to get that exposure in that grocery store."
Bloomfield Farms hopes to have their products in at least three new Publix stores in Kentucky.
