LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville readers will soon have a new spot to cozy up with a new book and a glass of wine.

Yer Mom's Bookstore & Wine Café will open this spring in the new NuLu Marketplace North development on East Main Street.

The combination independent bookstore and wine café will also include a co-working space, called Green House Work Space, according to our partners at Louisville Business First

The business is expected to be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tara Leigh Goode, co-founder of Fleur de Lis Communications and vice president of Strategic Partnerships for the weather information service Climavision, is launching the bookstore-wine bar and co-working space. Goode told LBF the bookstore will help her return to her roots, as she holds a bachelor's degree in English and creative writing, and taught English as a student-teacher in her home state of Florida.

"I've always had this passion for art and communication. It's always been there in my body and my heart," Goode told LBF. "So, while I work in these highly technical fields, I've always been percolating on this bookstore wine café idea in the back of my mind. And given how intense my day job is at times, I knew I needed a creative outlet."

Goode said there are plans for the bookstore to host author talks, readings and intimate library events, collaborating with Louisville's writing and publishing community.

“Over the last four or five years...we’ve seen the return of the indie bookstore,” she told LBF. “I noticed that market signal. And the other part of that is that I noticed the way you make it work is by capturing an audience with a tangential revenue source such as wine or a café. That’s what really helping to stabilize the indie bookstores.”

Prior to Yer Mom's Bookstore & Wine Café opening, Goode is collecting input online for residents to help shape inventory and other offerings.

The bookstore-café will occupy a roughly 3,000-square-foot space on the first floor of the NuLu Marketplace North development. The co-working space will occupy about 4,500 square feet above the bookstore, with 11 private offices for individuals or small teams.

LBF reported the NuLu Marketplace North development will serve as a tech hub, including Louisville-based tech companies, a coworking space, an incubator space, a 50-person small event space, a podcast studio, press conference room, extended stay housing and a pedway connecting the two NuLu marketplaces.
