LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — After years of zoning battles that limited its business, a popular Portland barbecue restaurant is back in business.

According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Porkland BBQ reopened Thursday at its St. Cecilia Street location after completing a two-year rezoning process. This allows the business to once again operate as a full-service restaurant.

The restaurant had been limited to operating as a weekly fundraiser since 2022 because the property was not zoned for full-time restaurant use.

While pursuing the zoning change, Porkland BBQ continued serving the community through weekly fundraisers benefiting Love City, the nonprofit founded by the Arvins.

Now, the restaurant is celebrating more than just its return.

Alongside the reopening, Porkland BBQ is launching a new in-house ice cream parlor called Inside Scoop. The dessert shop will feature hand-dipped ice cream, shakes, floats, sundaes and soft serve, giving customers a sweet finish to the restaurant's barbecue, seafood and burger offerings.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

According to Porkland BBQ, proceeds from the business support Love City's community programs in west Louisville.
