LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A supply chain company in Louisville plans to shutter its operations before the end of the year.

According to our partners at Louisville Business First, HJI Supply Chain Solutions Inc. will shut down its facility at 548 Cedar Grove Road in Shepherdsville on Dec. 31. The move means a total of 117 employees at the facility will lose their job.

Company officials mentioned the layoffs in a WARN notice filed with the state of Kentucky as required by federal law.

Vice President of People Operations Rahima Avdic told Louisville Business First the shutdown is related to Ford Motor Co.'s retooling of the Louisville Assembly Plant.

HJI facility assembled part of the seats for vehicles the plant located on Fern Valley Road, where the Escape SUV was produced, but the company announced in August that it was shifting production to a new electric truck.

That's why the Louisville Assembly Plant will begin shutting down operations on that vehicle in December. Separation packages are being offered to employees, and workers are currently submitting transfers to other facilities.

HJI expects the job losses to occur over a 14-day period starting on Dec. 8, according to Louisville Business First.
