LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crews worked on recovery efforts Monday after a water main break Sunday morning in south Louisville.
According to the Louisville Water Company, the main break occurred near the intersection of 3rd and West Kenton streets around 8:30 a.m. in the Wilder Park neighborhood.Ā Vehicles in the roadway were submerged by the water. Louisville Water said drainage issues in the area caused the major flooding.
Eleven customers were without water services, including a few homes, a business and small apartment complex, according to Louisville Water.Ā
Southeast Christian Church's South Louisville campus was also damaged by the water. Services were canceled and it will be three to five days before crews can get the basketball gym open.Ā
Skyler Davis, campus pastor of Southeast Christian Church's South Louisville campus, said water spilled in through the doors.
"It caused destruction from that point forward," Davis said. "We're here today cleaning up the devastation that it caused."
Church members and staff worked in cleaning the area Monday. Davis said there was carpet and dry wall damage in the children's ministry area. The space was renovated last summer and Davis expects it to take weeks or months to get the space back running.
Southeast will host services on Sunday.
A neighbor affected by the flooding spoke with WDRB News Sunday.
"I could hear it pouring in my basement, the next thing I know, the basement is flooded up to the top of the steps so everything I have in the basement is a loss," Jacqueline Dixon said.
