When police arrived on scene, they found three people who had been shot. One person died at the scene, while the two other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The male who was killed has not been identified.
Police identified the suspect in shooting as a Black male with dreadlocks wearing a red hoodie. New Albany Chief Todd Bailey said the suspect remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Harvest Homecoming's booth days go from Thursday through Sunday in southern Indiana. The annual fall festival is expected to host more than a million attendees this year.
WDRB spoke to a person who wanted to stay anonymous and was working nearby at the time of the shooting. They said a bartender told everyone to stay inside. Then they said the brewery then went on "lockdown" during the shooting.
"I hate to say it but I'm not really surprised," they said. "I felt like something stupid was going to happen, a fight or something."
"It's scary, you shouldn't bring a gun or anything, don't fight each other. Bringing a gun, that's outrageous."
Harvest Homecoming Festival president Doug Jacques said he couldn't comment on the situation at this time.
Sunday morning, organizers announced that the final day of Harvest would be canceled. That includes all activities and events, booths and rides.
Anyone with any information related to the shooting should call New Albany Police at (812) 944-6411.
