LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 35-year-old woman found dead in a burned-up house in Spencer County on Memorial Day was murdered, according to police investigators, and two suspects are now in custody in connection with the killing.

Christiana Angel Walker was found dead inside a home in May 2023. Her cause of death hasn't been released.

Kentucky State Police announced Tuesday afternoon that investigators arrested 22-year-old Kimberly Walton and 39-year-old Edet Wettee in connection with Walker's death. According to KSP, Wettee was Walker's husband, and Walton was an "acquaintance" of Wettee.

For Walker's family, there is an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for KSP.

"I had doubts at first because it was so quiet, we heard nothing, but right now my family, the Carpenter family just wants to thank the Kentucky State Police Department," Walker's aunt, Wanda Carpenter said.

Carpenter said many in Walker's family were suspicious of Wettee.

"I think from day one, day one it was planned," Carpenter said.

Walker's aunt, said she is not familiar with Walton.

"We never heard of her or anything," Carpenter said.

Police have not disclosed any kind of motive, at this time. However, Carpenter believes a text that Walker sent to a friend, summed up her relationship with Wettee.

"She was telling a friend, 'I was in love, but now I realized he was just in it for the money,'" Carpenter said.

Both suspects are from Cincinnati and are currently incarcerated there, awaiting extradition. They are both charged with murder.

When officers arrested Wettee, he had a "juvenile child" with him. That child, who police said is Walker's biological child, is now in the custody of the State of Ohio, KSP said.

Carpenter said Wettee may have adopted Walker's son, two weeks before her death.

The investigation began just after 4 p.m. Monday, May 29, when KSP troopers were called to a house fire on Chatman Lane, in Taylorsville.

Police found Walker's remains inside the home. The case was initially classified as a death investigation as investigators worked to determine her cause of death.

Walker's family feel there is still a long road ahead, to reach complete justice.

"Justice will be served as the Bible speaks, 'sin will be punished,'" said Carpenter.
