LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Marion County man was charged with vehicular homicide after two people died in a crash on Saturday, according to Kentucky State Police.
KSP troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 68 near the intersection of Jessietown Road in Marion County at 6:20 p.m.
Police said 20-year-old Erick Garcia was traveling west on US 68 in a 2005 Dodge Ram when he crossed the centerline of the roadway and went into the eastbound lane. He then dropped from the roadway and steered his vehicle back into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox.
Roy Wright, 75, was driving the Equinox. Deborah Wright, 72, was riding in the vehicle as well.
Deborah Wright was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Roy Wright was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital, but he died there.
Garcia was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, assault, DUI, wanton endangerment and other traffic offenses.
Garcia was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.
