LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A second person was accused of helping a suspect wanted in the shooting of an Orange County deputy sheriff.
According to Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Zac Andry was shot four times during a traffic stop on Highway 150 near West Baden at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3., by Schepers.
ISP said Andry noticed a car pulled over on the side of the highway. During the stop, Andry suspected criminal activity and asked Schepers to step out of the car. That's when ISP said Schepers shot Andry and sped off.
Victoria Howard, 35, of New Albany, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 9, in Clarksville by ISP on charges of assisting a criminal and false informing.Â
Investigators believe Howard helped Schepers escape to Louisville after he showed up to her apartment on Market Street in New Albany.
In an update Friday, ISP said 37-year-old James Adams of Commiskey, Indiana, showed up to the apartment in New Albany at the request of Schepers.
Police said Adams "was instrumental in helping Schepers get to Craig Street in Louisville."
After arriving in Louisville, Schepers was shot by Louisville Metro Police officers after police said it was an attempted ambush.
Adams was already booked in the Scott County Jail on unrelated drug charges. The warrant for his arrest through Floyd County was served at the Scott County Jail.
Adams has been initially charged with assisting a criminal and false informing.
