LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman accused of hitting a young boy and a teenage girl with her car before driving away over the weekend was arraigned Monday.Â
Katherine Hall, 19, is charged with assault, speeding, failure to maintain required insurance and leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly ran over a 7-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl on Parthenia Avenue in the Jacobs neighborhood Saturday afternoon.Â
Police said witnesses told investigators she was driving the car at a high rate of speed when she hit the children. Â
LMPD responded to a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in the 3600 block of Parthenia Avenue around 3:25 p.m. Police said a car was going at high speeds when it hit a child and teenager who were on the street.
Both victims were taken to Norton Children's Hospital, where the boy was listed in critical condition. There's no update on his condition at this time. The 13-year-old is expected to survive, according to police.Â
Witnesses told investigators that Hall stopped briefly but then continued to drive away. Hall and the vehicle were found not far from the scene by an off-duty Jefferson County sheriff's deputy, according to court documents.Â
The judge set Hall's bond at $25,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 29.Â
