LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A cellphone video shows a brazen shoplifter at a Louisville Walgreens.

In the video, you see a man walking around the store on Fegenbush Lane, stuffing items into a bag as a bystander follows him, capturing the cellphone video.

The shoplifter ends up grabbing all kinds of things off the shelves before leaving the store and driving off in a car with two other people in it.

WDRB's Christie Battista talked with the man behind the cellphone who said he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"I was pretty disappointed," Sean Peoples said. "This is my community, this is where I live. You know, and my wife shops at Walgreens so how can I do nothing, you know? I wasn't raised to do nothing so all I could do is to film."

Peoples called 911 after the suspect left, but he was told to call a corporate hotline to send the video to. Louisville Metro Police doesn't respond to a shoplifting call unless it is actively in progress.

Peoples said this sets a bad precedent for the city and with Derby coming up, isn't a good look.

"You're going to have all these people coming in from all these different states, all these different countries," Peoples said. "So know you're going to have people able to walk into establishments and walk out. What are they going to think about Louisville and their safety?"

Walgreens reported the shoplifting to police the next day.

Right now, no one has been arrested in the case.
