LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The family of a woman killed in a crash on the Second Street Bridge in December is suing the man police said caused it.
Rachel Green died in the Dec. 23, 2024, crash. Jeffersonville police said a car headed north crossed the center line around 3:20 a.m., hitting a southbound car.
Green and another person in the southbound vehicle died at the scene. Another person in the vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the northbound car was hospitalized with serious injuries. That driver, James Nelson, is now being sued by Green's family.
Nelson, who police said caused the crash, is accused of driving while intoxicated. Multiple charges were filed against him earlier this week in connection to the crash, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
It's unclear whether he has been arrested. As of Friday, the Clark County Jail said they don't have him booked there.
According to court documents, Nelson's blood alcohol level was above .08. He's due back in court March 31.Â
