LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge ordered former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel to be taken into custody on Tuesday.
Special judge Larry Medlock found Noel in contempt of court and ordered him to be taken into custody. Medlock ordered Noel to be handcuffed and taken to jail for 60 days.
"I told you, Mr. Noel, don’t do anything stupid, do not try to deceive me or defy me, you will not like the consequences," Medlock said to Noel in court. "Today is that day. You are not the law."

The inside of Noel's house was on display inside a courtroom on Tuesday as he and his wife, Misty Noel, appeared for a contempt of court hearing.
It comes after state police found two handguns during a search of Noel's Jeffersonville home on March 13. That's apparently in violation of a court order issued late last year stating that Noel was allowed to have only a shotgun "for protection" and was prohibited from possessing any other firearms.
The court hearing was for Noel to explain why two pistols were found in the home, and why he shouldn’t be held in contempt of the judge’s order.
"I think what happened in court today underscores the seriousness of not following a court order," special prosecutor Bruce Hertel said. "And I think what Judge Medlock did, said and ordered spoke volumes and that speaks the loudest."
Court documents show officers found two handguns at Noel's Jeffersonville home.
Noel was arrested in November 2023 on 15 felony charges related to fraud, misconduct, theft, ghost employment, and public corruption after a nearly yearlong investigation that is ongoing. Another 10 charges were filed against him in early February, including theft and tax evasion.
He has been out of jail after posting a $75,000 bond the day after his arrest, following his first court appearance.
More documents this week revealed thousands of dollars more personal charges to a Synchrony Bank Sam's Club credit card and possible payments from Utica Township Volunteer Fire Dept. bank accounts.
The charges are among millions police accuse Noel, his wife, Misty Noel, and his daughter, Kasey Noel, charged to fire department credit cards and paid with fire department funds.
Misty Noel was charged with 10 felonies in the case. She was arrested in February and spent a weekend in the Scott County Detention Center before her first court appearance, and was released from jail after posting a $30,000 cash bond.
Kasey Noel was arrested earlier this month on nine felony charges, including five counts of theft and four counts of tax evasion. Search warrants in the corruption case of Jamey Noel indicate his daughter charged more than $100,000 to the Utica Volunteer Fire Department and New Chapel EMS.
According to the detailed charges, Kasey Noel made purchases for: clothing, tanning, cosmetics, manicure and pedicure services, food, tickets, trips, alcohol, utilities, vaping products, gas, Netflix and items from Amazon. The charges occurred between October 2018 and September 2023, totaling $108,660.59.
The Noels have each pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and are awaiting further court hearings later this year.
Investigators have made public around 50 search warrants and their findings since their probe began last summer, each outlining evidence seized or otherwise learned in the case.
