LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Louisville parents charged after their 1-year-old son nearly died from an overdose will remain in jail on a $20,000 full cash bond.Â
Louisville Metro Police officers arrested Ashley Seales and Daniel Banks Wednesday afternoon, following an investigation that started Feb. 13. According to court documents, that's when the pair noticed their son was "acting abnormal" at their home in Fern Creek.Â
The couple drove to a nearby pharmacy on Bardstown Road and called 911.
When EMS arrived, they found the child unresponsive and administered Narcan. The child was then taken to Norton Children's Hospital where he received a drug screen. He tested positive for several drugs, including fentanyl, court records show.Â
LMPD said the child nearly died, and the parents admitted to using Adderall as well as opiates.Â
Banks also has a pending DUI case from an arrest in October. The judge ordered them to have no contact with each other, the victim, or any minors if they are able to post their bond.Â
They're due back in court next week.Â
Police said the child is now safe in the custody of Child Protective Services.Â
