LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting on New Year's Eve in the Algonquin neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police Spokesman John Bradley said 33-year-old Robert Handley was arrested Thursday on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The shooting happened around 4:20 a.m. in the 1600 block of South 13th Street on Dec. 31, 2024. When officers arrived, they found a man, identified in court documents as Quante Burris, inside the home shot in the chest. Burris was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
According to Handley's arrest warrant, Burris had a "verbal and physical altercation" with his girlfriend before being shot. Burris' girlfriend called several people, including Handley, to get Burris out of her home. Handley confronted Burris and after a fight, Handley pulled out a gun and shot Burris.
Handley is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
