LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man could spend 80 years in prison for multiple charges which include robbing three banks in 2022.
A federal grand jury returned a five-count indictment for 30-year-old Corey Ware, charging him with three bank robberies, possession of a firearm during a bank robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Sept. 16, 2022, Ware robbed two banks, then on Sept. 22, 2022 he robbed a third bank in Jefferson County. Back on Dec. 20, 2018, Ware was convicted of convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree (three counts), trafficking in a controlled substance, second degree, and trafficking in marijuana with a firearm.
When he was arrested last year, Ware fled with cash in a vehicle and a marked police car tried to stop him in the 4500 block of Bardstown Road but he refused to stop and police began a pursuit.
Police said he then struck the two vehicles but no one was injured. Ware fled from his vehicle and officers eventually arrested him with help from the LMPD Air Unit.
The car chase delayed Jefferson County Public Schools buses from getting kids home from school.
Ware will remain in custody pending trial. According to court documents, the trial is currently scheduled for Jan. 16, 2024.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison.
