LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man who tried to run from the courthouse after being found guilty of murder last week has been sentenced to prison.

Arthur Pruitt, 46, was sentenced to 30 years Monday in the death of Demetrius Crumes.

Crumes was shot and killed in November 2021 at a house on St. Louis Avenue, near Dixie Highway.

Louisville Metro Police said Pruitt is facing new charges as well, after they said he tried to run away from court after his conviction Friday.

Officers tackled him and put him in handcuffs.

Court documents revealed Pruitt told officers, while in custody, that they could "get smoked too."

Pruitt later told police to "remember this face, because I can get out and kill you all too."

In addition to the murder conviction, Pruitt was charged with attempted escape, resisting arrest, and three counts of second-degree terroristic threatening after his attempted escape from court. He was arraigned on those charges Saturday, June 7.
