LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman charged with manslaughter after her 3-month-old baby was found dead in a motel bathtub has taken a plea agreement.

Amber Winstead, 36, was also charged with being a persistent felony offender. In court Friday, Winstead agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter in exchange for the felony offender charge to be dropped.

Kentucky is recommending Winstead serve a seven-year sentence in prison.

Winstead's baby was found when Louisville Metro Police responded to a reported drowning in a room at a Motel 6 on New Year's Day earlier this year. According to investigators, Winstead used narcotics and got into the bathtub with the 3-month-old. She told police when another person woke her up hours later, the baby was submerged in the tub and drowned. She also told police she had used narcotics throughout the day, leading up to her taking the bath.

Winstead will be sentenced Dec. 11.
