LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police identified the officer who shot and killed a man Monday who officers said approached them with a gun.
Tiffany Reiner, 45, died at UofL Health Hospital on Monday afternoon hours after she was shot on Ridgecrest Road near Rosette Boulevard.
Louisville Metro Police said an officer shot and killed 20-year-old Frank Mejia Aguilar — the man who allegedly shot Reiner — when he approached them with a gun and refused commands to stop and drop the weapon.Â
LMPD said officer Hunter Weaver was the one who shot and killed Aguilar.
Weaver has been with LMPD since 2023 and has at least 10 letters of commendation and one letter of reprimand for not getting department approval for secondary employment.
Family members told WDRB after the shooting that Reiner was a mother of three children. They said she was shot during a birthday party for one of her adult children.Â
LMPD Deputy Chief Emily McKinley said the Public Integrity Unit is investigating the shooting, and body camera video of the incident will be released within 10 business days of the shooting, which is department protocol.
