LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police said the woman accused of shooting and killing another woman outside a McDonald's in downtown Louisville on New Year's Eve allegedly shot the victim because her car door hit hers.
Shoshanha Jones was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Jones was identified as a suspect in the Dec. 31 shooting in the 400 block of East Market Street, just outside NuLu.
The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. near North Preston and South Jackson streets.
According to court documents, the shooting happened during an argument after a child was getting out of a car and the door hit Jones' vehicle.
Police said Jones began yelling at the child, who returned to the vehicle. The child's mother was in the vehicle and tried to get Jones' attention on her rather than the child, court documents state.Â
Jones got a handgun, and Mayra Rodriguez Munoz exited the vehicle in an attempt to intervene when Jones fired, hitting Rodriguez Munoz in the chest.
The other woman was attempting to film the incident when Jones pointed her gun at her and took the phone by force before fleeing the scene.
Police and EMS were called and pronounced Rodriguez Munoz dead at the scene.Â
Jones was identified as a suspect after her ID was found on the ground near spent shell casings. Police confirmed her identity and found that she was a convicted felon who cannot own or possess a handgun.
Jones is being held at Metro Corrections and is scheduled to appear in court for her arraignment Wednesday morning.
