LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman is facing several charges after she allegedly asked two children under 12 to help her carry out a plan to cause her ex-mother-in-law to suffer a harmful allergic reaction.

The victim said she began receiving harassing communications from her former daughter-in-law, 34-year-old Tiffany Gregory, earlier this year, according to court documents.

She said one of those threatening messages was sent to her phone from Gregory's phone on April 4. That's when the victim said she received a message with a video showing the victim standing in line at a Walgreens.

More than three months later, on July 7, police said Gregory asked an 11-year-old and 8-year-old to "run an errand" with her before a trip to the zoo. That's when she allegedly instructed the children to "stomp" on some bell peppers that she then placed in a birthday bag. Police said she also told the children to put the bag on the victim's porch -- knowing the victim is severely allergic to peppers. When the children refused, a friend of Gregory's put the bag on the victim's vehicle, "creating a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury."

Along with the crushed peppers, investigators said the bag contained a birthday card with this handwritten message: "You ruined my life ... enjoy your allergic reaction b****!"

The victim's husband ended up finding the bag.

The children told their mother about the incident, and a police report was filed. Investigators learned from the 11-year-old that Gregory had previously shown up at the victim's home on June 14 "to drop off legal paperwork." That's when Gregory "rubbed a pink substance on the driver's door handle of the victim's vehicle" before leaving, according to the account given to police by the child.

The victim spotted the substance as she was about to open the door. She wiped it off with a napkin "and later woke up in the hospital" and was "treated for an allergic reaction," according to the arrest report. The victim told police she has received "multiple threatening messages" from Gregory, who was seen driving by the victim's home on several occasions.

Gregory was previously married to the victim's son.

She was arrested July 29 on charges of stalking, wanton endangerment and two counts of unlawful transaction with a minor. A judge entered a not guilty plea to the charges at Gregory's arraignment hearing on July 30, and set a $25,000 cash bond.

Gregory's next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7.

Mother of children who reported incident says suspect had been stalking ex-mother-in-law

According to Jeanetta Rodriguez, the mother of the children allegedly involved, Gregory had asked to take her daughters to the zoo on July 7. Rodriguez said she later found out about the incident from her daughters' therapist and confronted Gregory.

“She made my kids crush the peppers, pick the peppers up, put it in the birthday bag,” Rodriguez said in a phone interview. “Then they drove to the victim’s home. Her friend Emily, who was in the car, wrote the note Tiffany dictated.”

Rodriguez said Gregory has a domestic violence order in place involving her ex-husband, who is also the father of Rodriguez’s oldest daughter. The court order bars Gregory from having contact with that side of the family, including her daughter.

Despite that, Rodriguez said Gregory had been stalking her ex-mother-in-law and sending her unauthorized updates about the children, including therapy progress and personal details.

“She was sitting on pictures of my kids and giving them updates about her therapy and how she’s healing from her dad not being around,” Rodriguez said.

The victim reportedly has a serious allergy to bell peppers — but that wasn’t the only concern.

According to the police report, when the victim discovered the crushed peppers, she also noticed a pink substance on the handle of her car. Shortly after, she lost consciousness.

“She told me the next thing she knew, she woke up in the hospital,” Rodriguez said. “She almost died. She’s severely allergic to any kind of penicillin.”
