LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A southern Indiana man was killed in an early Thanksgiving morning shooting.
Indiana State Police said in a news release that the Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to a shooting on the 9000 block of Bush Road near Pekin, Indiana, at 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to police, 26-year-old Juan Gutierrez of Pekin was shot and taken to a hospital in Salem, Indiana, where he died.
After obtaining a search warrant, collecting evidence and conducting interviews, police arrested 22-year-old Phillip Hawkins of Pekin.
Hawkins was charged with reckless homicide and taken to the Washington County Jail.
