LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man is in custody following a shooting Friday in Louisville's Fairdale neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Officers were dispatched shortly after 1 p.m. for a reported shooting outside the 9300 block of National Turnpike, according to an LMPD release.
The arriving officers were told a man was taken to UofL Hospital by private means with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said the victim was "alert and conscious" when he arrived to the hospital.
Officers later arrested 25-year-old Korvelle C. Thomas in connection to the shooting.
According to the arrest citation, a witness said he and the victim were meeting Thomas to load car parts into a vehicle when Thomas pulled a gun on them, shooting the victim.
Court documents said an unarmed security guard saw Thomas hop a fence near South Park School and told him to drop his weapon. LMPD officers made the arrest shortly after.
Thomas was charged with assault and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. He pleaded not guilty in court Saturday, and a judge set a $50,000 cash bond.
