LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who allegedly stole more than $1,000 worth of equipment from Menards has been charged, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Richard D. Smith, 53, is facing theft by unlawful taking over $1,000, according to LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis. Police were searching for a suspect who allegedly stole from Menards near Preston Highway.
Police said Smith walked out with a shopping cart full of construction and other equipment on Sept. 12. Police believe he drove away in a red pickup truck.
Smith was already in police custody on unrelated charges.
