LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shelby County mother who police said was missing after she failed to provide medical treatment for her baby was found in Louisville.
According to a news release Tuesday morning, Shelbyville Police Chief Bruce Gentry said Shatessa Manica, 36, was taken into custody by Louisville Metro Police on outstanding warrants.
Gentry said help from the media in publicizing the case helped with Manica contacting family members and placing her baby, Serenity, in their custody. The child is now being cared for by the state.
Manica was wanted on five warrants on charges, including possession of meth, abuse or neglect of a child and identity theft.
Police in Shelbyville asked for the public's help Monday to locate Manica and the child. The alert said the mother and child may have been in the company of Antonio Turner, who police said may also go by "Dynamite of Louisville, Kentucky." Turner also has an active warrant for his arrest.
