Woman dies after shooting near Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is dead after a shooting near Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood Wednesday night.

Louisville Metro Police were called to the 4100 block of West Broadway near Cecil Avenue at 9 p.m. on a reported shooting, department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a woman who had been shot. Mitchell said she was taken to University of Louisville hospital where she died.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified her Thursday as 28-year-old Jermia Offutt.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating, but have no suspects and have made no arrests.
