LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police said a woman was hospitalized after being shot in the foot early Sunday morning in the Russell neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Chris Baker said officers responded to the 1100 Block of Muhammad Ali Boulevard around 3 a.m. Sunday to find a woman shot in the foot.

Baker said officers rendered aid until EMS arrived. The victim was taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Baker said a preliminary investigation determined the incident began in the 1000 block of Esquire Alley.
