LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students in Bullitt County go back to school Tuesday, Aug. 6.

In the past, the district has struggled with finding enough bus drivers, just like many others. Bullitt County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jesse Bacon was on WDRB Mornings on Friday to explain what the district is going to make sure students get to school.

"Our workforce is still a huge challenge," he said. "We are in much better position than we were or have been in the last couple years. We'll have a driver on every bus route to start the year. We're still a little short in subs and could use some more substitute drivers, so if there's anybody out there that would be interested in doing something like that."

He said staffing issues in the classroom are a nationwide problem, as well.

"Our teaching staff and support staff, we're still short and we would need some additional help and support there," Bacon said. "Even though we're in a much better position than in years past, that's still a challenge for us moving forward."

This school year, Bullitt County is using a new communications feature called Rooms. That's where families can find all of the information they're looking for concerning the start of school.
