LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Greater Clark County Schools will increase pay for its teachers.Â
The school district in southern Indiana will increase base pay by $2,000 for all teachers, which is added to the $2,500 increase previously bargained for the 2024-25 school year, according to a news release Monday.
Starting teacher pay will be $50,000, and the top of the pay scale will move to $87,000.
"We recognize the invaluable contributions of our teachers and the pivotal role they play in shaping the future of our students," GCCS said in a news release. "By significantly increasing entry-level teacher pay, we are investing in the success of our educators and ensuring our students receive the highest quality of instruction."
The school district said the pay increase will help recruit and retain teachers.Â
