LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Greater Clark County Schools can build a new middle school.

Jeffersonville City Council voted to rezone 46 acres at East Highway 62 and Utica Sellersburg Road for a new school. The council rejected a similar proposal last year.

Last week, the Jeffersonville Planning Commission approved to rezone the former Twi-Lite Golf Course, along Highway 62, to allow for a new school to be built.

Neighbors expressed concerns over traffic and closing Parkview Middle School in Jeffersonville off Eighth Street. Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent Mark Laughner said the new plan addresses those concerns.

"It addresses what the City wants, what the neighbors want, but also addresses what the school district needs and the community and City of Jeffersonville," Laughner previously said to WDRB News.

Parkview Middle School will remain open in addition to the new middle school. The plan also called for 20 acres of the property to be developed into single-family homes.
