LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The bus hotline for Jefferson County Public Schools families is officially live ahead of the new school year.
Parents can call 485-RIDE with transportation-related questions. And bus stops and routes have officially been posted on Bus Teller. There, parents can easily view their child's bus number, bus stop location and estimated pick-up and drop-off times.
If you have a question, JCPS staff members are available to answer through the hotline Monday through Friday.
"We are well-staffed," Rachel Scott, a spokesperson for the district, said Thursday. "We have about 100 people that are working to answer phones this year throughout the two and a half weeks that we are open."
Families will also have a new way track their child's bus routes this school year. JCPS previously used an app called "Edulog" for parents to track bus routes. They can now download a new tracking app called "My Ride K-12" to see where their kids are.
A JCPS spokesperson said the app will look similar for users, but its accuracy will be improved because it is directly connected to JCPS software, unlike Edulog, which was through a third party. The new app will provide an exact arrival time instead of a window, the substitute bus number if a substitute is called in and a real-time map of where the bus is.

JCPS said its 485-RIDE line opened at 10 a.m. on July 27, giving parents a direct resource for questions about bus stops and other transportation issues.
"Our leaders are aligned, our priorities clear and there's a shared commitment to making sure every teacher is ready to welcome students on day one," JCPS Superintendent Brian Yearwood said. "I could not be more excited about the year ahead."
JCPS leaders said they are focused on making sure this year's first day runs differently. The district plans to have a first day team work directly with principals to quickly address any transportation issues.
