LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 200 students from Jefferson County Public Schools participated in a day of service on Wednesday.
The students are Explore Ambassadors, representing 14 JCPS middle schools in the program. The largest group of students from seven middle schools packaged food at Love the Hungry.
"We want our middle school students to understand that their skills and talents can help others," said Marcella Minogue, executive administrator for Explore Ambassadors.
Those packages will go to families in need and be shared globally for people who are hungry and in need of healthy food.
"This is such a great thing to have kids doing especially at such a young age, as middle schoolers, it's such a foundational age to have them doing this stuff," Sophia Renoweber, a student, said.
Students also volunteered to serve at other charities like Ronald McDonald House, Catholic Charities and Salvation Army.
