LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Emergency crews rescued a semitruck driver dangling over the Kennedy Bridge after a crash Sunday morning.

The crash involving a semitruck happened around 9:50 a.m. on the Kennedy Bridge, according to TRIMARC. Louisville Metro Police said the tractor trailer was going southbound when the driver lost control for an unknown reason and hit the rail of the bridge.

Police said the crash caused the cab of the tractor to hang over the rail with the driver inside. Rescue crews from LMPD and Louisville Fire Department were on scene for rescue efforts, according to police.

Emergency crews rescued the driver as the vehicle was dangling over the bridge in downtown Louisville. Louisville deputy Mayor David James shared a video on Facebook showing firefighters using a rope to bring the driver down to safety.

LMPD said the driver of the vehicle is conscious and alert. No one was injured in the crash.

All lanes are also blocked on the I-64 east ramp from the Kennedy Bridge in Louisville due to the crash.

Police encourage people to avoid the area.

A similar crash happened Saturday afternoon, causing major traffic problems ahead of the Kentucky Derby. Police said a car hauler overturned on I-65 south just off the Kennedy Bridge. Vehicles that were on the trailer fell off and blocked traffic.
