FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. (WDRB) — Dixie Rosales has endured unimaginable pain. Her daughter, Anna Maria Gonzalez, 38, died Sunday night in a tragic crash involving her boyfriend, Scott Drollinger. For Rosales, the loss is unbearable.

"I wish I could forgive him, but I can't," she said. "She's my second daughter to be murdered by her significant other."

Gonzalez, of Georgetown, Indiana, had been working to rebuild her life. She had moved into a new apartment with her daughters, Victoria and Natalia, and had been sober for almost four years. She was committed to bettering herself and had planned to return to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), despite Drollinger's objections.

"Scott didn't want her to go back to AA because he thought it was a cult," Rosales explained. "But she told me in a message she was going back. She was working on herself."

The family said Gonzalez and Drollinger had a turbulent relationship, marked by breakups and repeated police involvement.

WDRB News could find no court records regarding domestic violence in Kentucky or Indiana.

Family and friends feared she would be pulled back in, and on Sunday, their fears were realized.

According to police, Drollinger had been drinking when he convinced Gonzalez to get into his truck. While driving on Northwestern Parkway, he lost control. The vehicle tore through fences and poles, skidding wildly for more than a hundred yards before coming to a stop. Gonzalez died at the scene.

Her mother recalls how her personality changed while living with Drollinger.

"She was not allowed to be herself anymore," Rosales said. "He didn't like her makeup. But when she moved out, that changed. Her sparkle came back."

Gonzalez's daughter, Natalia, cherishes the last moment she shared with her mother.

"The last in-person conversation I had with my mom was on Friday," she said. "She was getting ready with her friend Destinee to go to the gym. I think the last thing I said to her was, 'I love you.'"

Now, Rosales faces the heartbreak of losing another daughter to domestic violence. As she grieves, she hopes her daughter's story serves as a warning for others in dangerous relationships.
