LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana hospital is closing, but employees who are losing their jobs will get some help finding a new one.
Kentuckiana Medical Center will shut down on April 27. The facility is in Clarksville, just off I-65 and U.S. 31.
About 250 employees were sent a letter telling them they're out of a job, but it doesn't say why the hospital is closing. It just asks employees to continue working through the closure.
Job Center- WorkOne Southern Indiana will be on site next week helping those employees to find new jobs. The center's Director of Operations, Jackie James, says the workers are in a good position.
"We have a plethora of hospitals and medical facilities in our region, and luckily, medical positions are in high demand right now. So of all the dislocations we have, i feel confident individuals will probably have a good likelihood of becoming employed very quickly," she says.
Kentuckiana Medical Center opened in 2009, but filed for bankruptcy a year later.
